We are extremely excited to announce that Macro Plastics is now officially a member of 1% for the Planet! With climate change issues continuing to escalate, our planet needs our help to protect its land, species, and resources. Unfortunately, only about 3% of philanthropy goes to environmental causes. This is why Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, teamed up to form a movement that inspires businesses and individuals to give back and help the environment.
The concept is simple – donate at least 1% of sales to causes that help the environment. Since its start in 2002, 1% for the Planet has added over 1,400 business members, partnered with thousands of nonprofits in more than 60 countries, and produced over $175 million in donations to environmental nonprofits.
As a member of 1% for the Planet, we will be donating 1% of the revenue from our Hybrid line of bin products to nonprofits that fall in line with our values and that we believe will have a positive impact on the environment.
Macro Plastics has a history of environmental consciousness by producing long lasting returnable and reusable plastic containers that are 100% recyclable. Our engineers have worked hard to create durable bins that are made of 100% plastic to encourage users to recycle the bins at the end of their lives. Most other plastic bins include parts made of additional materials like metal or fiberglass, making them much more difficult to recycle. In addition, we are committed to recovering our products at the end of their life so we offer a buy back program for our containers. The plastic from these containers goes straight back into other Macro products so we can ensure it is not being lost into the environment. At Macro, being a good corporate citizen is extremely important and we are excited to take further steps to improving our environmental footprint.
